Increasing the visibility and social connectedness of seniors in Queensland communities

Too often we hear that people feel invisible as they get older, and we want to change that – one building, bridge, or sign at a time.

More than 875,600 people who are aged 65 and older call Queensland home. With this number predicted to double by 2050, there has never been a more important time to raise the visibility and voices of people as we age in Queensland.

We thank the many councils and businesses who are showing their support by lighting up Queensland purple and pink in support of Queensland Seniors Month and orange and yellow for National Grandparents Day.

You can show your support by:

  • connecting to your community by participating in events and activities.
  • wearing purple.
  • posting an image of yourself wearing to Facebook and tagging @qldseniorsmonth into your post
  • provide your feedback and experiences with your local council.
