Voluntary assisted dying in Queensland: Navigating eligibility, access, and care with compassion

Voluntary assisted dying is a new end-of-life choice in Queensland. While lawful, the process can be difficult to understand, navigate, and access. Drawing on legal, health system, lived experience, and psychological perspectives, the panel will explore the practical and emotional realities of navigating voluntary assisted dying and the role of compassion in supporting individuals, families, and carers through voluntary assisted dying experiences.
The discussion brings together industry leaders from Metro South Health and Children’s Health Queensland, alongside UQ academics from the School of Law, the Medical School, and the School of Psychology. Join us in person at the University of Queensland, St Lucia (Terrace Room, Sir Llew Edwards Building) or online. In-person attendees are warmly invited to stay for networking and light refreshments following the seminar.
