Kylie Hill’s first solo exhibition will be a reflection on the importance of leaving a cultural legacy to next generations.
Jardibirri Nungarima Bukanyi: Standing Strong for the Future is Kylie Hill’s first solo exhibition. It represents Hill’s personal strength and her desire to leave a cultural legacy for future generations. The work references life, family, and the artist’s traditional heritage and learnings as a contemporary Aboriginal woman.
Hill’s kinship ties hail from the Kalkadoon (Mount Isa) and Waanyi people (Gulf of Carpentaria), and the Quandamooka people of north Stradbroke Island. During her early childhood, her family moved from Mount Isa to Ipswich, and she has been an essential part of the Ipswich community in the forty years since.
